Did You Know?

Adults who report better mental health are a lot more likely to have spent time playing in coastal or inland waters (rivers/lakes) as children.

That is based on research from people in nearly 2 dozen countries.

It found that folks who recalled more experiences in childhood around blue spaces (the water) tended to place greater intrinsic value on natural settings in general and to visit them more often as adults—each of which, in turn, was associated with better mental well-being in adulthood.
