Lansing City Clerk to hold a Public Meeting on October 26 to Review
Lansing – As promised by Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope, a draft copy of the Medical Marijuana Provisioning Centers Scoring Criteria for selecting provisioning centers in the City of Lansing is available on the City Clerk’s website at lansingmi.gov/marijuana for public feedback.
In addition, Clerk Swope has taken the step to host a meeting on Thursday, October 26 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the South Washington Office Complex Drill Room, 2500 S. Washington. At that meeting, he will provide an overview of the selection process, address questions about the review process, and receive feedback on the scoring criteria.
Because of the Lansing City Ordinance limit on the number of provisioning centers, the criteria for scoring and selecting applicants must be set prior to accepting any provisioning centers applications to ensure a fair review process. The Medical Marijuana Ordinance provides a broad outline of important factors such as: capital investment, jobs created, resident safety, and business operating experience. The Clerk is charged with determining the standards and process for selecting up to twenty-five applicants.
“I believe that by making the criteria available to the public, we will have more complete applications, less questions and confusion from applicants which will help us select the provisioning centers that provide the best service for the patients and the residents of the City,” said Clerk Chris Swope.
The public is welcome to send written comments about the scoring criteria for selecting provisioning centers to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 30
