Cristo Rey Community Center has been a Hero to the Lansing area since 1968.

January 2, 2019

Cristo Rey Supplies our community with everything that poverty takes from it, and more. Funding is imperative when providing needed services to the community. One of the newest endeavors is Tech La Casa, it is a free class that allows Spanish speaking elderly get acclimated with computers. This community center also provides additional services like the "Bread Rack." Bread Rack allows people in the community to come get bread as they need it. Cristo Rey also has a personal needs closet that distributes over 800 hygiene, linens, and bedding products yearly, that can be visited once per month, and a clothing closet that can be visited twice per month. The helping hand that Cristo Rey extends is endless with the Family Health Care Center, Prescription Assistance, Counseling Services, and the Financial Empowerment Counseling that it offers. However, this community center isn't oblivious to the fact that 20% of the U.S. is in poverty, the city of Lansing is the same with 1-5 civilians being food insecure. Sixty thousand people in Ingham County alone are having to choose between paying rent or filling their pantry. The working poor experience unexpected expenses sickness, death, and car breakdowns e.c.t.  It takes an operating budget of 2.2 million dollars to help these types of people. Cristo Rey thrived with the grants from The City of Lansing, Community Foundation, United Way, Granger, and Jackson National Hero. Not to mention sponsors like Golf Fore Giving, Run 4 Food, Blue Cross Blue Shield Network, AF Group , Auto-Owners Insurance, Shaheen Chevrolet, Case Credit Union, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, Sparrow, McLaren, Two Men And A Truck, AT&T, Jackson National Life Insurance, Dean Transportation, Consumers Energy, Lansing Brewing Company, Lansing Community College, EDGE, Whole Foods Market, Maria and Leobardo Garcia, Foods For Living, Creative Wellness , Fr. Fred Thelen, Knights of Columbia San Juan Diego Council #15417, Lansing Sanitary Supply INC. Schiffer Mason Contractors, INC, Michigan State Federal Credit Union, Professional Maintenance, they've all played a major role in funding in 2018.  In 2017 The Annual Appeal Fundraiser brought in $30,000. This year The Annual Fundraiser goal is $ 35,000, This is even a fourth of what Cristo Rey Community Center provides our community with. Please make the need to place a donation @cristoreycommunity.org.
