UAW Union Members/GM Worker Strike Enters 2nd Week

September 23, 2019

As the automaker General Motors (GM) workers' union members of United Auto Workers' (UAW) enter their 2nd Week of striking, it appears that strike benefits will now start to take affect at $250 per week for those eligible.  The UAW has starting paying for COBRA medical benefits for union member strikers, as well, from their strike fund.

Talks were held over this past weekend between GM and UAW and are continuing this week in order to find hopefully quick resolve since the strikes beginning last Monday, September 16, 2019 after no mutual deal reached by September 14th deadline.  It is estimated that roughly 48,000 UAW members with GM are affected and is the first national strike in over 10 years, since 2017 within GM.
