Award-Winning Canadian Trio to Rock Lansing’s Fledge Fest

Graphic by Charity Treat

Live music is back and there’s no shortage of bands vying for performance slots to play to fervent music fans who’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment. One group in particular from Canada, Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold, are dead-set on making their way back into the hearts and minds of American rockers.

Pre-pandemic, the award-winning trio garnered attention with showcases at Summer NAMM Nashville, Winter NAMM at LA’s legendary Whisky-a-Go-Go, guest spots at festivals like PVDFest and Music is Art, not to mention a support slot for Smashmouth at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Regatta.

When covid hit, the buzz surrounding The Truth Untold’s highly acclaimed debut EP, “Other Side of the Story” and their associated touring plans quickly fizzled. The band found themselves without a viable stage – like so many others – for the past three years.

Drawing inspiration from the deleterious physical, psychological, social and economic ramifications of the pandemic, the band’s frontwoman, Rose Cora Perry penned their latest single, “Not My Time” in an effort to bring people together and spread a message of hope.

Given the single’s success which has seen radio play on 50 stations across North America and is closing in on 100,000 views on Youtube within six months of its release, two things are clear: rock surely still has an audience and The Truth Untold have picked up right back from where they were.

The band is thrilled to be travelling to new territory this summer on their “Canadian Invasion: Part Deux” tour, with their first stop in Lansing, Michigan at the annual Fledge Fest.

Beginning in 2016, Fledge Fest represents the purest culmination of community building, radical inclusivity and extreme accessibility that local venue, The Fledge, aims to help cultivate. It is a celebration of the talent, skills, businesses, and outreaches that do good in our community but might not always be recognized for it.

Featuring over 30 live performances, dozens of local business vendors, and stages both inside and outside, no matter your age, there’s something familiar for you to enjoy and something new for you to discover at Fledge Fest.

Fledge Fest takes place at The Fledge (1300 Eureka St, Lansing, MI 48912) on Friday, June 23rd and Saturday, June 24th. Performances commence at 12 noon each day. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold hit the stage on Saturday, June 24th at 6:00 pm.
