Secretary of State office in Mason to close for remodeling project until March 4

Most transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS



MASON, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 806 Hogsback Road in Mason will be closed for a week during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.


The office will be closed Monday, Feb. 26 through Friday, March 1 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 4.  Renovations include improvements to the counter, reconfiguration of employee areas and electrical updates. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone. 


Self-service stations provide instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options including Arabic and Spanish. The nearest machine is located in the Meijer at 550 Hull Road in Mason. Others are available in the Meijer at 2055 W. Grand River in Okemos, as well as the Secretary of State office at 3315 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. 


Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424. The nearest offices are located at 3315 E. Michigan in Lansing and 8158 Executive Court in Lansing Both offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
