4 Teens killed in Stolen Car Crash Prompted by 'Tik Tok' Challenge

In Buffalo, New York, four families have been plunged into grief -- their teenage child is dead. And rather than preparing for Halloween, they're planning funerals.

Four teens, ranging in age from 19 to 14, were killed yesterday when the stolen car they were 'joy riding' in crashed. The teenagers may have gotten the idea to steal the car from a challenge on the social media site 'TikTok' encouraging folks to break into Kia and Hyundai cars with phone chargers, Buffalo's Police Commissioner told reporters.

The so-called “Kia challenge,” shows TikTok viewers how to hotwire the two makes of cars with a USB cord and a screwdriver and dares them to participate in the illegal activity.

Officials say the teens were killed when they were ejected from the Kia car they stole. That's a clear indication they weren't wearing seat belts. The teenager driving the car wasn't thrown from it when it crashed. He was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

PLEASE, PLEASE always wear a seat belt when riding in any vehicle, stolen or otherwise.
