Committed to the overall health of communities of color, the Northern Indiana Chapter of the Links, Inc. will once again celebrate Men’s Health and Wellness on Saturday, December 10th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College, 3491 Broadway in Gary. This free event is open to the public and will feature health presentations focused on areas threatening the lives and well-being of African Americans men including chronic kidney disease, diabetes, prostate cancer and high cholesterol.
“We are excited about hosting this event because it will provide men with a better understanding of their health status, risk factors and how to stay active, be healthy and thrive,” said Northern Indiana Links Chapter President LaVada Taylor. "These services are definitely needed particularly since chronic kidney disease and prostate cancer are prevalent in Northwest Indiana."
Featured speakers include Dr. Sandra Gadson, Nephrologist; Dr. Andre Artis, Cardiologist; Dr. Adam Murphy, Urologist; Ray The Trainer, Fitness Guru and several others.
Male attendees will have access to free onsite health screenings via Community HealthNet Health Centers’ mobile unit and the Rev. Charles Williams Prostate Mobile Unit from the Indiana State Health Department. These screenings represent a convenient way for men to do a health check-in prior to their next annual physical.
