Grand Ledge Gives 'Fired' former Schools Chief over a Million Bucks as a Parting Gift!

As improbable as it seems, the killing of George Floyd by a cop in Minneapolis back in May of 2020 is going to cost the taxpayers of Grand Ledge, Michigan nearly $1.1 million -- in a roundabout sort of way!

That is how much the city’s school district has agreed to pay former superintendent Brian Metcalf who was fired after making comments about the Floyd murder on social media that some considered insensitive, inappropriate, and borderline racist!

The Lansing State Journal got details of last month’s settlement between the school district and Metcalf through a public records ‘freedom of information’ request.

In addition to getting $225,000 for a year’s salary, and $75,000 in punitive damages, Metcalf is also receiving $727,500 for physical and emotional injuries he claims to have suffered during a school board meeting on June 4, 2020. Plus, Grand Ledge schools will pay Metcalf’s attorney $60,000 for his legal services.

Talk about some nice ‘parting gifts!’

One final detail of the settlement, Metcalf also agreed to NEVER apply again for employment with the Grand Ledge school district.
