LANSING, Mich., Jan. 11, 2023 — State Rep. Kara Hope (D-Holt) was sworn in today as state representative for the 2023-24 legislative term. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 102nd Legislature and the first day of House Democrats having the majority in over a decade.

“I’m honored to serve the new 74th House District and look forward to what we can accomplish in the upcoming term,” Hope said. “I will continue to fight for legislation to protect children from gun violence, defend the right to an abortion and make sure that Michiganders can exercise their right to vote.”

Hope is serving her third term in the House and currently represents the 74th House District, which comprises all of South Lansing and Delhi Township. She previously represented Michigan’s 67th House District, which included Mason, Stockbridge, Leslie, Webberville, Williamston, Dansville, Holt, Onondaga and South Lansing.
