Lansing's WILX-TV is reporting the passing of the station's former News Director Kevin Ragan. His family says he died Tuesday.
Ragan headed "News 10" operations for more than 18 years beginning in 1999. The Kansas University graduate came to WILX following stints as a news manager at stations, in Greenville, South Carolina; Pittsburgh; Cleveland; and Witchita, Kansas.
In a story last night about his passing, Ragan was described as "A journalist’s journalist. A hard-nosed newsman who took the job of covering the news seriously (but) didn’t take himself too seriously."
Anchor David Andrews said of his longtime boss, "Kevin hired and trained hundreds of people who would work in front of the camera and behind it to bring Mid-Michigan the news every morning and night at News 10."
There is no information about Ragan's cause of death. Reportedly, he had a stroke at work back in 2017.
No word yet on any funeral arraignments.
