Opportunity Arts is thrilled to announce a series of artistic events taking place throughout the month of July, showcasing the incredible talents of Opportunity Art Affiliate Members, and fostering meaningful connections within the creative community in the Capital Region. From music and visual art to poetry and insightful discussions, these events promise to engage, inspire, and leave a lasting impact. All events are free, and open to the public. Friday, July 14th, 5pm-8pm: Kicking off the festivities, join us for "Arts Night Out" at the prestigious Michigan Institute of Contemporary Art (MICA) in Old Town Lansing. This lively evening will feature the enchanting melodies of the gifted musician & pianist Soulfullkeys, accompanied by the captivating visuals of the renowned visual artist Maya James whose art is on display all month long. Immerse yourself in the fusion of music and art, creating an experience that will touch your soul. MICA is located at 1210 Turner Rd., Lansing, MI. Saturday, July 15th, 7pm-9pm: Be part of a remarkable evening as we celebrate the artistic prowess of Maya James at her highly anticipated Artist's Reception, also held at MICA in Old Town Lansing. Witness the unveiling of Maya's latest creations and engage with the artist herself as she shares her inspirations and stories behind her stunning works. Prepare to be captivated by the depth and beauty of Maya's artistry. Thursday, July 20th, 7pm-8:30pm: Calling all poetry and performing arts enthusiasts! Don't miss "The Open MICA," a lively open mic event hosted by the charismatic Hannah “Rainy” of Rainydarkfi at MICA in Old Town Lansing. Step up to the mic or sit back and enjoy the soul-stirring performances as local performers showcase their talents. Share your thoughts, emotions, and stories through the power of spoken word and experience the magic of artistic expression. Tuesday, July 25th, 7pm-9pm: In collaboration with the East Lansing Public Library, Opportunity Arts presents "Conscious Conversations: Learning From and Letting Go of the Past," a thought-provoking event hosted by the insightful Abrielle Mason. Join us at the library located at 950 Abbot Rd, East Lansing, MI for an enlightening discussion that delves into the lessons we can learn from the past and how we can embrace personal growth by letting go.
