The Detroit Land Bank Authority, joined by Mayor Mary Sheffield, celebrated 67 Detroit residents who successfully completed the Buy Back program and received deeds to homes previously lost to tax foreclosure or deed fraud.

The 10th annual celebration recognized participants who completed requirements that included addressing property taxes, financial literacy counseling and homeownership workshops. City officials said the program is designed to provide families with greater housing stability, an opportunity to build generational wealth and a path to remain rooted in their neighborhoods.

Since its launch, the Buy Back program has helped more than 1,400 residents claim ownership of their homes. The Detroit Land Bank Authority also provides tax workshops, counseling, financial literacy programming and ongoing support intended to promote sustainable homeownership.
