LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has joined a bipartisan coalition of 48 other attorneys general pressing the federal government to strengthen protections against illegal robocalls.

The coalition is urging the Federal Communications Commission to take stronger action against illegal and unwanted calls that continue to target consumers across Michigan and the country.

Robocall schemes frequently use spoofed numbers and other tactics designed to make fraudulent calls appear legitimate, leaving consumers vulnerable to scams and financial loss.

The effort reflects a multistate push for tougher enforcement and stronger safeguards as attorneys general continue working to reduce illegal call traffic and protect consumers.
