Brains and Buckets: Eagles Earn Academic All-MAC Honor

While Eastern Michigan continues to make noise in competition, the wins aren’t just happening under bright lights, they’re happening in the classroom too.

Eastern Michigan women’s basketball standouts Sisi Eleko and Brooklyn Thrash have been named to the Academic All-MAC Team, a recognition that honors student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. And this wasn’t just a participation trophy moment. This was earned.

Eleko, one of the Mid-American Conference’s most dominant players this season, delivered elite production on the court while maintaining strong academic performance. She finished just shy of 1,000 career points and tied a program record with 31 double-doubles, including a conference-high 17 this season.

Let that sink in, Dominance and discipline. Same sentence. She also ranked among the top players in the MAC in scoring, rebounds, and efficiency, proving she’s not just showing up, she’s setting the tone.

Meanwhile, Thrash brought consistency and growth, starting every game this season and playing a key role on both ends of the floor. She averaged nearly 8 points and 5 rebounds per game, while increasing her production across the board and reducing turnovers. That’s quiet work. The kind that builds real teams.

More Than Athletes

Both players are set to graduate this spring, Eleko with a degree in psychology and Thrash in exercise science, showing that their impact stretches far beyond basketball.

Because at the end of the day, It’s one thing to perform. It’s another thing to prepare for life after the spotlight. And Eastern Michigan They’re doing both.
