WARNOCK Wins in Georgia!

Chronicle News graphic/CNN screengrab

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock is projected to win the runoff race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, defeating Republican Herschel Walker in the last outstanding Senate race in the country.

With 97% of the vote counted, Warnock has been declared the winner by major news organizations like the AP, CNN, and NBC.

The democratic incumbent has a lead of 50.6% to 49.4% over the Trump-endorsed Walker -- an actual margin of 41,000 votes out of around 3.5 million total votes cast. Warnock's lead is expected to slowly grow over the coming hours and days -- the final votes won't be counted until Friday, December 9th.

While Democrats would have controlled the Senate next year regardless of Tuesday's outcome -- this victory by Warnock gives the party added leverage in the evenly divided chamber.
