Candice Mushatt Seeks to Continue Representing Flint’s 7th Ward

FLINT, Mich. — Candice Mushatt is seeking to continue representing Flint’s 7th Ward on the Flint City Council. Mushatt was appointed by the City Council in 2023 to serve the remainder of the ward’s term and moved into a council leadership position within five months, according to her campaign biography.
Mushatt serves as director of the Flint Community Water Lab, where she works with Flint youth on water testing and training connected to chemistry and community advocacy. Her professional background also includes serving as the City of Flint’s public information officer and as a legislative staffer with the Michigan House of Representatives.
City records list Mushatt as the current council member for Flint’s 7th Ward. Approved City Council minutes from March 23, 2026 identify her as council president.
Campaign Priorities
On her campaign website, Mushatt identifies improved infrastructure, neighborhood safety, park safety, fiscal responsibility and timely responses to residents among her priorities. She also emphasizes civility, collaboration and accountability in city government. Her campaign points to road paving, tree trimming and sidewalk repairs as infrastructure concerns; the installation of speed humps as a neighborhood-safety measure; and a local ordinance establishing park hours as part of her record.
