CHELSEA CHECKS IT OUT: Scooter’s Coffee Comes to East Michigan Avenue

LANSING — If you’ve driven down East Michigan Avenue near Frandor lately, you’ve probably noticed the big “NOW OPEN” sign at Scooter’s Coffee. The new location at 3335 E. Michigan Ave. recently opened in the former BIGGBY Coffee space, giving the area another drive-thru option for coffee, breakfast and a whole lot more.
For my first visit, I decided to see how the Scooter’s app worked. I downloaded it, placed my order ahead of time and picked it up effortlessly. I also received a free medium drink through the new-member rewards offer.
My order was a medium Flavor of the Day coffee with oat milk, Sugar in the Raw and a shot of espresso. The app made it easy to customize the order and it was ready shortly after I arrived. What stood out to me was just how much is on the menu.
Scooter’s offers the coffee staples such as lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, Americanos and cold brew along with its signature Caramelicious, available hot, iced or blended. For those who don't drink coffee, there are smoothies, shakes, teas, lemonades and Red Bull Infusions.
The fall menu is especially timely right now, with pumpkin, maple and caramel apple flavors. Current seasonal choices include Pumpkin Caramelicious, Maple Caramelicious, Caramel Apple Red Bull Infusion and Caramel Apple Shake, along with seasonal food such as a pumpkin muffin. The fall selections are available for a limited time.
Breakfast is another reason to stop by, with breakfast sandwiches, burritos, bagels, omelet bites, muffins and other quick options. Since prices can vary by location, I’d recommend checking the Lansing menu in the app for current prices before ordering. The app is also where Scooter’s Rewards comes in. Customers can order ahead, pay through the app and earn Smiles toward future food and drinks. Scooter’s currently awards 5 Smiles per dollar when ordering or paying through the app and 3 Smiles per dollar when scanning the app and paying separately.

The Lansing location is currently listed as open 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Scooter’s began in Nebraska in 1998 and has grown into a national drive-thru coffee franchise. Its arrival on East Michigan Avenue gives Lansing another option for an early-morning coffee run, breakfast on the way to work or a seasonal drink when you're craving something a little different. For a first visit, the app made ordering easy, the menu gave me plenty to explore, and I already have a few things I'd like to try next. That's a great first impression of a new Lansing coffee stop.
