Downtown East Lansing’s Risky Studios to Celebrate Grand Reopening at New, Expanded Location

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) is pleased to announce that Risky Studios will be celebrating its grand reopening at a new, expanded location in downtown East Lansing on Saturday, April 15. The grand reopening is open to the public and will be taking place from 4-8 p.m. at 301 M.A.C. Ave., Ste. 103. During the event, there will be a ribbon cutting, food, and refreshments, gift card giveaways, information about current and upcoming events, service discounts, merchandise, and an artist showcase featuring short performances for community members to enjoy.

Risky Studios is a multimedia production studio and creative co-working space owned by husband-and-wife duo Joshua and Alicia Southern. The business first opened in downtown East Lansing in February 2022 and provides accessible space and equipment for local business owners, artists, and content creators to bring their creative endeavors to life.

The business offers space and equipment to accommodate podcasts, photography, videography, audio production, audio recording, and more. With the recent relocation to a larger space at 301 M.A.C. Ave., there are now separate rooms for Risky Studios’ various equipment and services, including a dedicated control room and vocal booth for music and audio recording, a podcasting room, an editing bay/working space and two flexible spaces, one with a lounge setup for video podcasts and one that houses the studio’s photography equipment.

Community members from across the region, including creatives that might be interested in using the space, are encouraged to come out for Risky Studios’ grand reopening to check out the newly expanded location and celebrate Risky Studios’ first year in downtown East Lansing. “We have had such a positive and welcoming experience this past year in East Lansing,” said Risky Studios owner Alicia Southern. “We are so excited to be celebrating our one-year anniversary with an expansion and looking forward to growing our downtown for years to come. We have built a great team and have developed awesome partnerships allowing us to offer more space and new services.

We hope to see creators, musicians, other business owners, and community members at the grand reopening of Risky Studios!” Time slots for the studio can be booked at https://www.riskystudioslansing.com/ and memberships are available for recurring access to the space and equipment at a discounted price.
