LANSING, MICHIGAN – A new podcast rooted in community, nostalgia, and storytelling is set to bring the memories of growing up in Lansing during the 1980s back to life. 40Dubb: Stories From the Era, hosted by Matt McKinnon and Ken Barnes, will officially launch this summer, offering a powerful platform for voices from the Lansing community to share their experiences growing up during the late 1970s and 1980s.
The podcast focuses on the culture, friendships, athletics, and everyday life that shaped a generation in Lansing. Through engaging conversations and authentic storytelling, 40Dubb aims to preserve the legacy of the community while reconnecting classmates, neighbors, and families.
The launch of 40Dubb will coincide with the upcoming 40 year class reunion this summer, where the team plans to capture live interviews, spontaneous moments, and heartfelt reflections from attendees. These recordings will serve as the foundation for early podcast episodes, bringing real emotion and genuine memories directly to listeners.
“40Dubb is about giving our community a voice,” said co hosts Matt McKinnon and Ken Barnes. “We’re telling the stories that made us who we are.”
The podcast is an extension of the documentary series Reflections of an Era: Growing Up Lansing, created by Stephen Burnett, which explores the lived experiences of individuals who grew up in Lansing during this influential time period. Together, these projects form a growing archive of personal history, cultural insight, and community pride.
Listeners can expect a mix of full length interviews, reunion highlights, and short form storytelling segments that capture both the humor and depth of the era.
40Dubb will be available across major podcast platforms and supported by video content on YouTube, along with community engagement through social media.
