Spring is bringing more than warmer weather to Eastern Michigan University, it’s bringing wins, milestones, and momentum across multiple programs, as the Eagles continue to make noise on and off the field.
Leading the charge, Eastern Michigan’s women’s golf team captured the team title at the Silicon Valley Showcase, marking their third tournament win of the season. The victory was powered by standout golfer Baiyok Sukterm, who secured her first individual title after leading the competition from start to finish.
That kind of dominance? That’s not luck, that’s discipline showing up early and staying late.
Meanwhile, history is being written on the water.
Head women’s rowing coach Kemp Savage was named USRowing’s Man of the Year, a national honor recognizing his leadership and long-term impact on the sport. From expanding opportunities through lightweight rowing to helping establish the MAC Rowing Championships, Savage has positioned Eastern as a serious force in collegiate rowing.
And the wins didn’t stop there.
Eastern’s lacrosse team delivered a statement victory, defeating Central Michigan 14–9, earning their first win in program history against the Chippewas. Emerson Henry led the charge with a dominant performance, recording four goals and three assists, while goalkeeper Maddy Porter anchored the defense with 11 saves.
On the rowing side, the Eagles added another milestone with a historic victory over Michigan State, marking their first win against the Spartans since 2018. The team’s wire-to-wire finish signals a program that isn’t just improving, it’s evolving into a contender.
What’s Next
The momentum continues with a packed schedule of upcoming home events, including:
Baseball home series at Oestrike Stadium (April 10–12, April 17–19)
Women’s lacrosse home match vs. UMass (April 11)
Spring football game and community events
Senior Day celebrations and Military Appreciation events
Many of these events are free to attend, making it easy for the community to show up and support.
The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just a good week for Eastern Michigan, it’s a reflection of something deeper.
It’s culture.
It’s investment.
It’s athletes and coaches choosing consistency over hype.
And right now, that consistency is paying off.
Because when programs start stacking wins across the board like this, that’s not a moment. That’s a movement.
