Brandon Henderson—known to so many as DJ Crazy Caz—was more than a DJ. He was the DJ. A mentor. A brother. A hometown hero. A storyteller with turntables. His beats became the backdrop of our lives, and his presence touched hearts across Lansing, Detroit, Flint, Australia, and beyond.

Here’s what the community had to say:
“He wasn’t just the life of the party—he was the party.”
“We gotta give this man the biggest homegoing this town has ever seen.”
“He mentored me through music and life. Crazy Caz believed in me before the world did.”
“I remember sneaking downstairs to watch him cut up on the turntables. That’s what taught me hip-hop.”
“You, DJ Hollywood, and I held the city down. Southside love—forever.”

“From Churchill to Fielding, from Sydney to Lansing, he touched every block with love.”
“Your mother taught me piano. You gave us the soundtrack to our youth. I hope you’re reunited with her now.”
“Brandon was my safe space. Even when emotions were hard for him, he held space for mine.”
“The world has lost a true musical genius and human light.”
“I’ll carry your words and your encouragement with me forever. Thank you for believing in me.”
“You rocked the flyers. We showed up. Every. Single. Time.”
"First & foremost, my condolences to the family of Brandon Henderson aka DJ Crazy Caz. I'm honored to have known you for most of my life—from middle school at Dwight Rich to J Dubbs, home of the DJs, and beyond. You and Derek Templeton aka DJ Hollywood were Wainwright; I was on the other side of Waverly called Woodcreek. The three of us held the Southside down and took it further. You're a true friend and a DJ legend. Myself, DJ Hollywood, and Brian Payne aka DJ Cutt Nice will keep our city dancing as long as we can breathe. We know you'll be right there in spirit, talkin' smack to get us to go harder—because if we didn’t bring it, you weren’t gonna leave us any room to rock! Love you, Legend. Lansing and the world do too. R.I.P. to my DJ brother, my great friend, the legend—DJ Crazy Caz, Mr. Brrrrrrrrrrandon Henderson."

"This video contains a dedication mix to my friend, mentor, DJ brother, and cousin Brandon Henderson, DJ Crazy Caz. These are just some of the joints he rocked, especially at THE BINGO HALL. And yes, I’m rocking ALL VINYL—NO laptop or software needed. Cutty the Closer. Enjoy. Salute."
"Lansing is hurting. Our hearts are heavy. We’ve lost a true legend—Brandon Henderson, DJ Crazy Caz. A mentor, a mixmaster, a hometown icon. He was the pulse of our parties and the soul of our city. Because Lansing without Crazy Caz? It just don’t hit the same."
"Timothy TJ the DJ Jackson of WXLA coined his DJ name. ‘Crazy Caz’
"I love you, Crazy Caz. You were important. You were vital. You were much more than a great DJ. You were a great HUMAN. I’m gonna miss you forever, my G. May the Gods and Goddesses be pleased with your works upon this wretched Earth and welcome you into Heaven’s DJ booth with open arms and angel wings."#Lansing #Flint #Detroit #Australia #DJCrazyCaz #OldKidDJs

"Brandon, you gave us years of good music, mad fun, and memories that can’t be erased. To have known DJ Crazy Caz was to know a genuine soul. Some things he shared with me about vocals and this music game—I carry those lessons to this day. Rest from pain and worry, big homie. Take flight."
"He was one of my heroes, like Luke Cage. From his bedroom DJ sets to club gigs, Brandon had talent beyond his years. He could draw, dance, breakdance, and mix—all at a level that blew our minds as kids. He was boundlessly gifted and deeply misunderstood. I'm sorry we didn't do more, understand more. I hope you're with your mom, my dad, and our people. I hope the universe treats you better this time."

"The energy back then... man, it was unmatched. I miss those days at The Corral on Sundays. Jokes, laughter, music. Rest easy, cousin/friend."
"Caz wasn’t just a DJ—he was the soundtrack to our lives."
"I talked to our brother just a few weeks ago. He told me how much he loved my music and energy. For Caz to put my joints in his mixes—that was real Southside love."

"The hood was always a family. I remember sneaking downstairs at his house to watch him cut it up on the turntables. That’s how I really learned hip-hop."
"He moved to Australia and became a major DJ in Sydney. That’s HUGE."
"We will always love you, big homie. The Master Mixer."
"We snuck him into the Elks when he was 14."
"He gave us so much to remember. When Crazy Caz was on the flyer, we showed up."
"Even from his hospital bed, he sent words of encouragement. That was who he was."

"He believed in me before the world did."
"Brandon wasn’t the life of the party—he WAS the party."
"We gotta give this man the biggest homegoing this town has ever seen."
"R.I.P. to one of Lansing’s DJ legends. Rest well, King."
"You brought life and soul to every party. Mentor. Brother. Icon. Long live the King."

"Even though we were separated by time and borders, you were always close in heart. I’ll keep your spirit alive every step of the way."
"You taught me so much, bro. One of the OGs of the scene. We’ve lost a real one."
"Without Crazy Caz, my life would’ve been different. A world without him is unimaginable."
"Your mother taught me piano. You gave us our youth’s soundtrack. I hope you’re with her now. J-Dubbs 88!"
"He was my favorite DJ—until I met you, lol. He used to turn out The Rocket. We’d go from an empty club to wall-to-wall by midnight."
| "Rest in heavenly music. From the Mitten to Sydney. My favorite fat cousin, Brandon Henderson—DJ Crazy Caz."
"In the lab, representing my friend DJ Crazy Caz! Salute to DJ Butcher for his tribute mix. You’re up next—Bingo Hall style!"
