Lansing, Mich. – Lansing Community College will join the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation tribute to firefighters who died in the line of duty. LCC will light the Granger Clock Tower on the Downtown Campus, and the dome at West Campus red, in honor of some of America’s bravest heroes. As darkness falls over the sky on October 2, LCC landmarks will glow red until October 9, for the fifth year in a row to show respect to fallen firefighters, first responders, and their families. “Every October, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation sponsors the official national memorial tribute to those firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year,” said Tim Baker, LCC Director of Public Service Careers and Regional Fire Training Center (Fire Science/Academy) Director. “This is a simple, yet powerful way to let the community know that LCC values and supports our local firefighters and first responders.” The United States Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit Foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and co-workers. “Lansing Community College is proud to continue our tradition of honoring fallen firefighters,” said LCC President Steve Robinson. “We stand in awe of the strength of their families as they honor and remember their loved ones.” About Lansing Community College Lansing Community College is an equal opportunity educational institution/employer.
