Milan City Council Member Shannon Dare Wayne Launches Campaign for Michigan House District 31, Receives Endorsement of Rep. Reggie Miller
MILAN, Mich. — Milan City Councilmember Shannon Dare Wayne today announced her candidacy for Michigan House District 31 with the endorsement of current Rep. Reggie Miller. The campaign described the race as a key contest as Democrats work to expand their House majority.
“I'm honored to have Rep. Reggie Miller’s endorsement and grateful for her support as I run for the Michigan House,” said Wayne. “I’m running for State House because working families in the 31st District deserve a strong voice in Lansing who understands their lives and knows how to get things done. Over the last four years on the City Council, I’ve worked to deliver real results, strengthen our community, and protect taxpayer dollars. In the Legislature, I’ll bring that same practical, results-driven approach to lowering costs, investing in strong public schools, and delivering for working families.”
“Shannon is exactly the type of representative we need for the 31st House District,” said Rep. Reggie Miller. “She has proven herself as a steady, effective leader on the Milan City Council, where she has worked to deliver real results for her community. Shannon knows how to lead, how to bring people together, and how to fight for what matters most to working families. I have no doubt she will bring that same focus and commitment to Lansing.”
According to the campaign, Wayne has served on the Milan City Council for more than four years and has helped deliver more than $7 million for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, roads, parks and other community improvements while helping maintain a balanced budget and protect taxpayer dollars.
The campaign says Wayne is a lifelong Michigander who has called Milan home for 22 years. It says she was raised in a blue-collar union family and has worked at Ford Motor Company for nearly 30 years, building a career focused on problem-solving, efficiency and accountability.
Wayne was appointed to the Michigan Technological University Board of Trustees by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and serves as an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University, according to the campaign.
She and her husband, Kevin, are raising their three children in the 31st District and remain deeply committed to the community they call home, the campaign said.
