LANSING, Mich. – New polling shows William Lawrence is leading with 45.2% among likely Democratic primary voters in the 7th Congressional District after hearing a brief biography of all three major candidates, according to a March 17-18 survey.
Respondents were first asked which candidate they would support if the election were held today. Responses showed a three-way heat with most voters undecided. Lawrence held a narrow lead with 5.9%, compared to 4.9% for Bridget Brink and 3.8% for Matt Maasdam.
After hearing a brief biography of the three candidates, including Lawrence’s local roots and history as a progressive organizer for affordable housing and climate action, voters showed a strong preference for Lawrence. Lawrence came out with 45.2% support to Maasdam's 11.7% and Brink’s 9.9%.
Lawrence said: “This poll validates what we have been hearing all over Mid-Michigan. Voters want an authentic and local candidate who is unafraid to fight the billionaires and political insiders. Our path to victory in this race is wide. We’re growing our movement every day by organizing the people and money needed to flip the 7th district.”
Mid-Michigan residents can join Lawrence’s people-powered campaign by visiting his campaign office at 3024 E. Michigan Ave in Lansing, or finding events and volunteer opportunities at www.wewill2026.com.
