LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Democratic nominee for Michigan's 7th Congressional District, Will Lawrence, will spend Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Lyon Township and Brighton, continuing his district-wide effort to meet directly with voters and hear their concerns about the rapid spread of large-scale data center projects across Mid-Michigan.
Lawrence will arrive at Lyon Township Hall at 5 p.m. for an open, unscripted "Ask Me Anything" session before the Township's Board of Trustees meeting begins at 6 p.m. He will close out the evening at 7 p.m. with a Meet & Greet at Brewery Becker in Brighton.
Data centers have emerged as a defining issue in the race. Lawrence has been raising alarms about the impact of hyperscale data center development on local communities, farmland, and utility ratepayers since October of 2025, while U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett has taken campaign contributions from corporate PACs tied to major data center developers even as he now attempts to recast himself as a champion on the issue.
