That title is long. The impact is even longer.
In partnership with the Executive Leadership Team, she leads community relations for the College, maintaining and strengthening relationships with business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders. Her work ensures that the mission of Lansing Community College is not just written on paper, but lived in neighborhoods, classrooms, and boardrooms across the region.
Before higher education leadership, Dr. Glasscoe spent fourteen combined years in Human Resource Management with the City of Lansing and the State of Michigan. She also devoted ten years to the classroom and to overseeing K-12 programs, building bridges between young learners and the futures waiting for them.
Today, she represents the College on the College and Career Readiness Advisory Board, the Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties Board, and the Lansing Promise Board. She was also elected to serve on the Grand Ledge School Board. Her leadership stretches across systems, across sectors, and across generations.
Education, Service, and Strategy
Dr. Glasscoe earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University. She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Education and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Oral Roberts University.
While completing her undergraduate education, she was active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., grounding her leadership in scholarship and service. She also served as a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for more than twenty years, and facilitated grief support groups at Ele’s Place for fifteen years. This is not résumé padding. This is commitment.
The Problem Her Work Solves
Dr. Glasscoe’s work addresses barriers. She focuses on accessibility for students who might not otherwise see postsecondary education as an option. She works to close social, emotional, and academic gaps. She promotes collaboration between institutions and community partners so that education is not isolated from real life.
In 2026, her focus is clear, positioning Lansing Community College as the number one postsecondary option in the tri-county area for students and families, including those who are neurodiverse. Inclusion is not a trend for her. It is a responsibility.
Beyond Lansing, her next chapter includes a 15-day trip to Africa, where she will give her time, talent, and treasure to support a school in Ghana. Leadership, for her, does not stop at borders.
What “We Are Black History” Means to Her
For Dr. Glasscoe, it means personal integrity. Individual responsibility. Respect.
It means being fully herself, lifting others as she climbs, and honoring those who came before her. It means appreciating diverse people, ideas, and cultures all year, not just in February.
That is history in motion.
Legacy at Home
With all her professional accomplishments, Dr. Glasscoe will tell you her most important role is wife, mother, and grandmother.
She has been married to Michael Glasscoe for over four decades. Together they have a daughter, Sydney, and a grandson, Caleb. Degrees matter. Titles matter. Boards matter. But family is the foundation.
Dr. Toni Hughes Glasscoe is not simply occupying space in leadership. She is widening it. Quietly. Strategically. Intentionally.
And that is how history continues. ✨
