Eastern Michigan Celebrates 2026 E-Club Hall of Fame Class

Eastern Michigan University celebrated generations of athletic achievement as six former student-athletes were inducted into the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The 50th annual ceremony was held at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti. The class represents accomplishments across swimming, football, soccer, baseball, cross country and track and field. The Hall of Fame now includes more than 300 former Eastern Michigan student-athletes.
The 2026 inductees are Madeleine Pilchard Batson, Richard “Butch” Palmer, Jussi Rautiainen, Ashley “A-Rod” Rodrigues, Howard “How” Simmons and Susan Tomanek. Their stories span different eras of Eastern athletics while sharing themes of perseverance, opportunity and pride in the university. Palmer, a former standout cornerback, spoke about how Eastern Michigan helped shape both his athletic career and his later work in social work and education. Other inductees reflected on teammates, coaches and family members who helped define their journeys.
A Legacy Beyond the Scoreboard
The ceremony highlighted the way college athletics can continue shaping lives long after competition ends. For alumni, it served as a reunion with the history of Eastern Michigan sports. For current athletes, the class offers examples of how their impact can extend beyond records and championships. This draft will be expanded with fuller inductee profiles and event photography before publication.
