Grand Rapids Seasonal Parking Restrictions Return November 1

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Seasonal parking restrictions will return to designated Grand Rapids streets beginning November 1 and remain in effect through April 1.
The rules apply only on streets marked with seasonal parking signs. On odd-numbered dates, vehicles must be parked on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. On even-numbered dates, vehicles must be parked on the even-numbered side during those same hours.
Between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m., parking is generally allowed on either side of an odd-even street unless other posted restrictions apply. Drivers are encouraged to move their vehicles before 1 a.m. so they are parked on the correct side for the next calendar date. Some streets use one-side seasonal parking instead of odd-even parking. On those blocks, parking is prohibited at all times on the posted side.
City officials say the seasonal rules help crews sweep leaves, plow snow, keep catch basins clear and maintain access for emergency vehicles. The city says a $20 parking ticket may be issued for violations whether or not snow is on the ground. Residents can check posted signs and the City of Grand Rapids seasonal parking map to determine whether their street is affected.
