LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College is inviting the community to step onto the dance floor for a free evening of live big-band music at its Fall Swing Fling on Friday, October 30.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Gannon Building Commons and will feature the LCC Jazz Band, led by Jonathon Gewirtz. Dance instructors will be on hand to guide participants throughout the evening.

The program will draw from the big-band era of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, with music associated with Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and others. Vocalist AnnaMaria Horn will also perform with the band.

“There are not many opportunities in the Lansing area to dance to a live big band,” Gewirtz said in the college’s media advisory, adding that he hopes the event creates another way for the LCC community and Greater Lansing residents to connect.

The Fall Swing Fling is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on Grand Avenue and on the first floor of the Gannon Parking Ramp.

Event details: Friday, October 30, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lansing Community College Gannon Building Commons.
