‘Rivalry put aside’ University of Michigan joined Michigan State in honoring those lost in tragedy

The entire arena was illuminated with a green light, as people joined together, wrapping their arms around one another's shoulders to remember those lost in the senseless violence on Michigan State's campus Monday evening.

Tonight (Feb. 18), University of Michigan hosted Michigan State in what would usually be considered one of the largest rivalry games of the year in the state. Tonight was different though. U of M 'put the rivalry aside' to stand with MSU to show their solidarity and support during this time of grief and heartache.

Michigan State wore shirts that read "Spartan Strong" while Michigan sported warmups that read "Michigan basketball stands with MSU."

Although the game was held in Ann Arbor, before the tip off, Michigan's band played State's alma mater, MSU Shadows to show their support.
