As The Chronicle News celebrates 40 years of community impact, culture, and connection, guests attending the VIP Experience will have the opportunity to enjoy a special tea service presented by Elyse Ribbons of Chengdu Teahouse. Known for her passion for tea education and cultural exchange, Ribbons has spent years introducing people to the rich traditions, history, and community-building power of tea. Through her work, she creates experiences that encourage conversation, learning, and meaningful connection.

At the Chronicle News 40th Anniversary Legacy Gala, VIP guests will enjoy a curated tea experience designed to complement an evening dedicated to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and building the future.

Tea has long served as a symbol of hospitality, reflection, and fellowship across cultures. Those same values have helped sustain The Chronicle News for four decades through the support of readers, partners, and community members who continue to believe in the power of storytelling.

“We are excited to share this unique experience with our guests,” said Publisher Yanice Carter. “The tea service is more than a beverage. It represents the conversations, relationships, and community connections that have helped shape our legacy.”

The VIP Tea Experience is one of several special features planned for the gala and reflects the event’s commitment to celebrating culture, community, and shared experiences.

For Elyse Ribbons, tea is not simply something to drink. It is an invitation to slow down, connect with others, and appreciate the stories that bring people together. The Chronicle News 40th Anniversary Legacy Gala takes place June 6, 2026, at Lansing Community College’s Michigan Room.
