Quality Dairy Cleared to Resume Bakery Operations; Donuts Return Thursday

LANSING, Mich. — Quality Dairy’s bakery has received clearance from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) to resume operations following its temporary shutdown Oct. 8, according to a statement from company President and CEO Ken Martin. Donuts and rolls are expected to return to QD store shelves Thursday morning, Oct. 15, with additional bakery favorites scheduled to return Friday.
Martin said the bakery team worked with outside specialists to address issues identified during the inspection and completed additional environmental testing. He thanked MDARD for working with the company throughout the process and expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and continued trust. The statement did not specify the corrective measures taken or provide the results of the additional testing.
The temporary shutdown followed an inspection that raised sanitation and pest-control concerns, according to WILX News 10 (https://www.wilx.com/2026/10/08/quality-dairy-pauses-bakery-production-after-state-food-safety-inspection/). The clearance allows the company to move forward with its planned return of bakery products.
