For Vera Riley, success has never been about choosing between creativity and entrepreneurship. Instead, she has built a path that allows her to embrace both. Known throughout the community for her music and uplifting spirit, Riley has also found success as an independent consultant with Jafra Cosmetics, where she combines beauty, mentorship, and business ownership to empower others.
Her journey with Jafra began by watching her mother build a successful career with the company. “My mother’s success inspired me,” Riley said. “I watched her earn incredible rewards, including trips and leadership opportunities. After attending company events and meeting the people behind the brand, I realized this was something I wanted to pursue myself.”
In just one year, Riley has built a team, achieved VIP Consultant status, and earned an incentive trip to Nashville. She credits the company’s supportive culture, growth opportunities, and community-focused mission for much of her success.
Beyond beauty products, Riley sees Jafra as a vehicle for empowerment. “Jafra impacts communities by providing beauty and hygiene products to nonprofit organizations and supporting initiatives that help people grow personally and professionally,” she said.
Locally, Riley hopes to partner with churches and community organizations to create programs such as “Queen Esther Day,” an initiative designed to teach young girls about hygiene, confidence, self-worth, and faith-based leadership.
As a consultant, Riley is especially proud of Jafra’s skincare and fragrance collections. She believes the products stand apart because of their quality and effectiveness. “I love hearing from customers who see real improvements in their skin,” she said. “And our fragrances are unique creations developed by the same fragrance houses that produce scents for luxury brands. They aren’t imitations, they are genuine, high-quality fragrances.”
One of the company’s signature offerings is the Jafra Royal skincare collection, which incorporates Royal Jelly and proprietary peptide technology designed to support healthier-looking skin. While Riley enjoys sharing quality products, she says the greatest opportunity may be the ability to help others create additional income streams and achieve financial independence.
“Whether someone wants to build a business or simply receive discounts on products they already love, Jafra gives people the opportunity to become their own storefront,” she said. For Riley, community remains at the heart of everything she does. “Community is more than a location,” she explained. “It’s a shared identity and a shared purpose. We build our communities together, and in doing so, we define who we are.”
That belief is also why she values local media.
“Local journalists are the ones who can authentically tell the stories of our communities,” Riley said. “When we support local media, we ensure that our stories are preserved and told from the perspective of the people who live them.”
Whether she is performing on stage, mentoring others, or helping clients discover products that make them feel confident, Vera Riley continues to use her gifts to inspire, empower, and uplift those around her.
